WELCOME TO OUR WEEKLY ROUNDUP.

Coronavirus, EU relations (Brexit) and US voting fraud investigations continue to cause very low volumes and volatility, as the markets wait for clearer conclusions as to final outcomes. This still may take quite a bit of time.

FRIDAY

Individual currency indexes are themselves began to form definitive directions but unfortunately this also gave some poor ICS Balances when you have 2 currencies on the strong side battling it out. Fortunately the initial superior strength of the UK pound gave some good trades in all our Dom long GBP pairs and this continued with positive UK economic data at 7am & 9.30am.

The main lack of ICS diversion was the Dom long EUR/AUD and again we were fully aware of this before the session started. Even so, there were still decent early points at our usual times though we had an overall expected net short come the US open.

The Dom long Dax struggled with negative German economic data at 8.30am but excellent trades were still had, though overall points were expectedly down.

Friday saw a reasonable maximum potential of 605 points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries within our five instruments from the UK morning session alone, with a minimum target of just 30.

JUST A TEN PERCENT target of this figure would have yielded 60 net points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries, with many additional opportunities in the US morning (UK afternoon) and US afternoon (UK evening) sessions.

The markets are still suffering from unusually low volumes, which have plagued us since the beginning of January. After the Christmas holidays the markets were expected to liven up to some of the biggest volumes of the year. So far, I’ve seen bigger volumes at the height of the Christmas and summer holidays. What are they waiting for ??

Unfortunately low volumes offer little trend momentum, as individual currencies battle each other with sticks instead of explosives! Despite all this, trades were generally still fairly plentiful at our usual times.

Thursday saw a reduced maximum potential of 605 points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries within our five instruments from the UK morning session alone, with a minimum target of just 30.

JUST A TEN PERCENT target of this figure would have yielded 60 net points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries, with many additional opportunities in the US morning (UK afternoon) and US afternoon (UK evening) sessions.

Our GBP pairs were trending in both the Dom long and short directions with poor ICS Balances. Points were still available at our usual times but again, volumes remain very low.

One of the best ICS Balances for a change belonged to the Dom long EUR/AUD and here we had some very decent points available. The strong euro played well for the Dom short German Dax and it was here we made up for lost time with excellent points to be had.

Wednesday saw an additional improvement on yesterday with a maximum potential of 770 points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries within our five instruments from the UK morning session alone, with a minimum target of just 30.

JUST A TEN PERCENT target of this figure would have yielded 77 net points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries, with many additional opportunities in the US morning (UK afternoon) and US afternoon (UK evening) sessions.

ICS Balances were a little more favourable today though far from ideal. Our Dom GBP pairs moved the best on mixed though positive UK economic data at 7am. However the UK pound still remains in an overbought scenario and we never know when market movers are going to take profit and drive the price back down.

The EUR/AUD had an exceptionally bad ICS Balance as the euro gained strength throughout the UK morning session. There was also the Dom long Dax which struggled on poor NASDAQ figures and a strengthening EUR Index. Overall there were still some decent points at our usual times and again, volumes remain painfully low.

Tuesday saw a slight improvement on yesterday with a maximum potential of 550 points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries within our five instruments from the UK morning session alone, with a minimum target of just 30.

JUST A TEN PERCENT target of this figure would have yielded 55 net points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries, with many additional opportunities in the US morning (UK afternoon) and US afternoon (UK evening) sessions.

We literally had a repeat of Friday with our currency pairs, with all individual indexes on the strong side. This lack of diversion most definitely slows momentum down and prices become manic, as similar strength currencies battle it out. It’s not ’till we get some sort of diversion of strengths (weak -v- strong) that we then see definitive movements in the Dom long or short trends.

We had to depend on early trades at our usual times to get any decent points today and this was further hampered by continued low volumes. Even the Dom long German Dax was hampered by a strong euro but overall there were still some good points available.

The start of the week saw a reduced maximum potential of 480 points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries within our five instruments from the UK morning session alone, with a minimum target of just 30.

JUST A TEN PERCENT target of this figure would have still yielded 48 net points from specific Max Day Trading time/trend entries, with many additional opportunities in the US morning (UK afternoon) and US afternoon (UK evening) sessions.
